After two decades of witnessing first-hand how disease ravages the human body I became frustrated. I felt I really wasn't doing anything to help. My paradigm began to shift when I met Alex Guerrero who helped me realize two things: 1) many injuries and diseases can be prevented through lifestyle modifications and 2) medicine has it backwards; we focus our attention on treating injury and disease after it occurs rather than spending time focusing on how to keep healthy people from getting hurt and sick. For me, the idea of Total Body Recovery was the answer. I have applied these principles to my life and I want to help you apply them to yours.
How TBRx Works
Deciding to choose lifestyle as medicine gives you control of your health. It begins with an overall screening which includes a comprehensive review of your medical history, nutrition, movement patterns, and brain function followed by detailed metabolic tests. The results of the initial assessment are integrated into a holistic plan developed with you and for you. I will also work closely with your primary care provider assisting them as a vital part of your healthcare team.
All of our services being with a health screening. This will involve a review of your medical history and current lifestyle. Personalized lab tests might also be ordered.
Posture & Gait Analysis
As a component of your first assessment, we perform a detailed analysis of your posture and gait. The way you stand and the way you move through various tasks can give us important information regarding pain sources and injury risk
Functional Movement Analysis
After we gauge your posture and gait, we'll analyze your functional movements-- that is the way you move during tasks of daily living. Movements such as squatting, lifting and reaching overhead are vital to living pain free
Your first assessment will also involve a series of neurocognitive tests. These fun games will help you follow your progress through your program. This cognitive component will also become a critical part of your workout plan as we get your visual-motor and cognitive-motor systems firing in order to develop neuroplasticity.
Together we will assess your lifestyle and come up with actionable strategies for you to succeed. That doesn't mean radical change, it means small steps and moderation. I like pizza, too... healthy doesn't have to be boring and flavorless!
Finally, at the end of the assessment, we will develop and action plan for you-- and just you. The plan will involve exercise, nutrition support and cognitive exercises. Together we will build the elite you.
